UNIVERISTY E-MAIL ACCOUNT

Employees of the University of Lodz and persons working at the university on the basis of civil law contracts are obliged to own an institutional e-mail account in uni.lodz.pl domain or a faculty subdomain.  

To create an e-mail address, an application form should be submitted to the faculty e-mail server administrator. For your employee code number, please contact the Personnel Department at dsp@uni.lodz.pl, Rector's Office Building.

EMPLOYEE SERVICE

(Portal Pracowniczy – PP) is the intranet of the University of Lodz available only to the employees of university. The UL Employee Service makes it possible to manage issues related to employment at the University of Lodz, it is a source of up-to-date information and the heart of electronic document circulation. Welcome Point for international researchers is a place where you can find all the necessary information related to employment process and settling down in Lodz. SET UP A LIBRARY ACCOUNT

Employees of UL can sing up to the library in the Lending Department located on the ground floor of the University of Lodz Library. Registration formalities must be carried out in person.  To sign up a valid ID card is required.

 

LOG IN TO A LIBRARY ACCOUNT

  1. Use option: Log in which is located in the right top corner at our website and press the green button Login in library catalogue.
  2. Use your university e-mail as a login, and the same password as for your employee service.
  3. If you do not manage to log in, please report this to the Lending Department - bul.wm@lib.uni.lodz.pl.
  4. In your library account you can check a list of current loans, your requests, the due date of collecting items, payments, but also extend the return due date of borrowed items and change the contact details.

            Choose the network Wi-Fi Eduroam and enter the same data as for employee service.

 

CATALOGUE

Most library books you can take home with you. You need a valid library card to borrow items from the library. Use the Main Catalogue to find the books and journal magazines: https://elibrary.lib.uni.lodz.pl. Check the shelf marks to find out where the items are located.

Collection of Open Access Area – shelf marks consist of letter and numbers - browse items on the open shelves and borrow them at the self-lending machines.
Collection of Closed Stacks – shelf marks consist only of numbers - order through library catalogue because these are not accessible to visitors.

  • find a publication (by: title, author, subject, ect.),
  • choose the available item (please pay attention in what library it is placed),
  • click on ‘Place hold’ to make a request for books from closed stacks,
  • there is no ‘Place hold’ button – it means it is Open Access collection,
  • log in to your account to make a request,
  • confirm your request,
  • ordered books are available after 30-40 minutes in the Lending Department, and  should be picked up in 3 business days. Items that are not picked up are sent to the storage,
  • you can also create lists of favourite publications for later – Permanent Lists.

 

CIRCULATION RULES

  1. Every employee of the University of Lodz can borrow:
  • 20 items for 365 days – in the case of professors and doctors with habilitation of the University of Lodz;
  • 15 positions for 180 days – in the case of other academic teachers and doctoral students of the University of Lodz;
  • 10 positions for 90 days – other employees of the University of Lodz, teachers from the Righteous Among the Nations State Secondary School of the University of Lodz and from the Private Secondary School - British International School of the University of Lodz;
  • 5 positions for 90 days – in the case of researchers from other higher education institutions in Lodz or in the region;
  • retirees of the University of Lodz – for 90 days – while retaining the right to the number of lending to which they were entitled on the day of their retirement.
  1. There is fine of 30 groszy for every day if one does not return the books on time.
  2. In case you lose your book, you are obliged to buy it back or pay the value of its price which may represent the threefold value of a lost work.
  3. You can make a booking reservation for a book borrowed by another reader by login in to library catalogue and using Place Hold button. You will be announced by email when the item return to the library.

 

E-RESOURCES

  1. Online e-resources may include e-journal, e-books, online academic databases, online magazines, online newspapers and others. The UL library enables the use of licensed electronic resources inside and outside the university network.
  2. Using e-resources outside the university network is available only for UL students, postgraduate students and UL employees who possess a valid library account.
  3. To log in to e-resources enter the same data as for the employee service.
  4. In case of any problems please check the validity of the library account (in order to update the account, please go to the Main Library's Lending Department: tel. 42 635 60 50, e-mail: bul.wm@lib.uni.lodz.pl)
  5. Sharing the access is not allowed. Removing, modifying, systematic downloads or using web-crawling programs is strictly prohibited.
