The University of Lodz Repository is an institutional repository whose purpose is to disseminate the scholarly output of its staff and promote research conducted at the UL. It is an archive of its own electronic documents – each deposited publication or collection of research data is given a permanent identifier (handle), enabling the document to be cited and indexed in scientific databases.

Materials are deposited in specific collections, such as research articles, book chapters, academic journals, doctoral and postdoctoral theses, conference materials, and teaching materials.

An employee or a doctoral student of the UL may become a depositor – authorisation of documents is performed each time by the repository administrator. By depositing their documents, the author approves the non-exclusive licence applicable at the University of Lodz.

Access to the collection – to the metadata and to the full texts of the deposited documents – is by definition open to all interested parties. In the case of doctoral and postdoctoral theses, the degree of openness (open to all/open on the UL network/open only in the Reading Room of the UL) is decided by the author.

Documents can also be granted Creative Commons licences.
